![]() The Cull view is a great tool for quickly going through large batches of images for selecting the best ones.Ĭapture One 23 enables the option to include Layers when saving Styles. This will show the currently selected collection of images and doesn’t require rendered previews. ![]() If you already have your images inside Capture One and wish to take advantage of the culling features, you can open the Cull view, available in the toolbar next to Import and Export. Previous versions of Capture One would not remember the selection if the Importer was closed. When rating and tagging images, Capture One will store the metadata temporarily if you decide to finish the culling session later. Browse with zero delay, group images together by similarity, star rate and color tag, zoom to 100% to evaluate sharpness, filter based on different metadata, and change the timestamp of images to ensure correct chronological order – all before importing your images into Capture One. The new features are available directly in the importer. The new culling features can be accessed from two areas of Capture One: Zero-delay browsing (no preview generation needed).Main features, available both in the Importer and the cull view: The new culling functionality is designed with high-volume photographers in mind, making it faster and more enjoyable to find the best shots. The new functionality is available both from the Importer and the new dedicated cull view. View, rate, tag, and browse with zero delay and get an easy overview of similar images for a faster selection. Sort your images and make your selections faster with dedicated functionality developed specifically for culling. If no faces are present on the images, the adjustments will vary greatly. Important: The first version of Smart Adjustments relies on faces, both for the reference and the images being adjusted. You can, for example, make a Smart version of your most used Style by including Smart Adjustments when re-saving it, or save a Smart Style which only corrects White Balance for faster portrait editing. Smart Adjustments are not supported on Layers. They can be applied to batches of images, during import etc. ![]() This type of Style can include regular adjustments which allows turning any Style into a Smart Style which automatically sets the White Balance and/or Exposure to achieve consistency. Smart Adjustment references can be saved into a Style for continuous use ( Smart Style). The Smart Adjustments Tool is in the Adjust tab of the default workspace. This reference can then be batch applied to other images which will have White Balance and/or Exposure adjusted automatically to match the look of the reference. Using the Smart Adjustments Tool, you can set a reference from an image with a visible face that has the desired White Balance and Exposure.Smart Adjustments can be used in two ways: The first version of Smart Adjustments is designed for photographers shooting portraits, weddings, events, and other images of people. Smart Adjustments can be added in a Style where additional adjustments can be included as well, getting closer to one-click editing. The Smart Adjustments Tool is designed for editing workflows where copy/apply cannot give a consistent result because the starting points are different. Automatically adjust Exposure and White Balance to match the look across images, heavily reducing the need for manual editing. Get consistency in your portraits or event photos in a few clicks with Smart Adjustments. Expecially for determining the sender of a scroll events there were some issues with the old mechanism. These events contain lots of extra data, including which device sent them! This seems to be a much superior way to solve the problem. I found some hacky ways to extract a driver-level event (IOHIDEvent) from a CGEvent.I can think of some arguments for throwing away the current mechanism, but I don't think they hold up: I expect Apple to fix IOHIDDeviceRegisterInputValueCallback() eventually, before Ventura releases, making the current mechanism work again. And I expect to use it for that, as well. I definitely want to support device-specific features like tilting scroll wheels and gesture buttons at some point though. I'm not sure if I ever want to build completely device specific settings, but we'd definitely need it for that. I do expect to to use the ability to determince which device sent a CGEvent for more things in the future. However I still think it makes sense to leave the current mechanism in place for the following reasons: → So if I understand correctly, the fix would break some internal mechanisms, but that shouldn't make a practical difference to anyone. But if you don't use several mice at the same time on the same computer - which I don't expect anyone does - this shouldn't be an issue either. Some of the state management code (tracking long clicks, double clicks, etc) saves separate state per device. ![]() ![]() But since the app doesn't allow remapping to left click and right click anyways, and any Apple devices I can think of only have left click and right click, this doesn't make a difference. I think the only thing it is used for is filtering button events from Apple Devices. Currently, determining which device sent an event is not essential, so the app will still work fine.I expect that what the fix essentially does is disable this mechanism for determining which device sent an event - thereby removing the dependence on the broken IOHIDDeviceRegisterInputValueCallback() According to this function is currently broken which also breaks Mac Mouse Fix. Currently, Mac Mouse Fix uses the Apple API function IOHIDDeviceRegisterInputValueCallback() to determine which device a CGEvent stems from. Here's an overview of my understanding of the issue: I hope that makes sense for everyone! Let me know if there’s something else I should consider. If Apple don’t fix it, I'm very open to merging fix. I strongly expect Apple will fix IOHIDDeviceRegisterInputValueCallback() before Ventura 1.0 which should make the official Mac Mouse Fix release work correctly again. These nonprescription contacts come in in a wide variety of colors and intriguing effects including cats, vampires, witches, zombies, and spider webs, to name just a few. ![]() This works out great since we can ensure that ever user has the valid font vault library. I've even created a based font vault (licensed and seats accounted for) to be deployed out as needed. If you’re in the market for a new font manager, or feel the need to use one for the first time, I HIGHLY recommend giving Suitcase Fusion 4 a try.Okay so I've been able to create serialized packages for deployment in the past, not a problem. And it has certainly earned its place back in the Dock of my Mac Pro and MacBook Air. With this latest updated, Extensis has cemented its dominant lead in the font management market, in my opinion. A demo is available to see if Suitcase Fusion 4 is right for your preferred workflow. The full version costs just $99.95, and upgrades from Fusion 2 or 3 cost just $49.95. Suitcase Fusion 4 is available for Mac OS X 10.5.8 and higher on an Intel Mac, and works with Adobe Creative Suite 3 and higher (I’m sure a CS6 plugin update will arrive shortly after Adobe releases CS6 to the public). Awesome! This is particularly useful if you plan on using the WebINK or Google Web Fonts technology I mentioned above. To me, Quick Match is the killer feature that every designer will absolutely love!Īnd how’s this for cool… you can load an existing website (right from the web) and apply any font in your collection to the site to see what it will look like. You can also tick a checkbox to limit the results by font style or classification, making the task of finding just the right font quite simple. QuickMatch offers a slider to adjust the relevance of the matched results. Selecting an available font from your installed fonts list and clicking on the new Quick Match icon displays a list of other fonts in your library that closely resemble the selected font. But the new feature that really made my day was QuickMatch. On the maintenance front, you can now check for font corruption and clear font caches right from within Fusion – avoiding the need for other 3rd party utilities. The panel requires CS 5 or higher to work. The ability to leave fonts in place or add them to the Fusion Vault is still there (I prefer to use the Vault to prevent corruption and make backups easier), but a few more goodies are really what makes Fusion 4 a great upgrade.įusion 4 introduces an independent font panel into Adobe Creative Suite apps that not only allows you to preview fonts, but create customized font digests for specific projects. Fusion feature goodness!Īll the past and expected features such as auto-activation in Adobe CS apps, font smart sets, and identification/keyword tools are available in Suitcase Fusion. Google Web Fonts show up in the source list as a separate library as well, so there’s no confusion as to where a font came from. You also have Google’s Web Fonts available at your disposal for use in any application. I actually use WebINK for the fonts you see here on The Graphic Mac – so it’s nice to have access to them right in Suitcase. Your purchased WebINK fonts show up right in Fusion’s font source list, as well as approximately 4,600 other available fonts for purchase and use on your websites. The first thing I noticed was that Extensis’ WebINK technology is fully baked-in to Fusion. The Suitcase Fusion 4 interface will look familiar to existing users Integration And because the Fusion Core is part of the app itself, there’s no System Preference amnesia to deal with anymore. Suitcase and InDesign both launch quickly and continued to run smoothly over the last two weeks. But use it for an hour or so and you begin to see they’ve changed much more than just its icon.įor starters, the problems I was having with slow load times of Suitcase, as well as Adobe InDesign with the auto-activation plugin installed, have gone away completely. Again.Īt first glance, Suitcase Fusion 4 doesn’t appear to have changed much beyond the new icon (part of their new corporate re-branding). Within hours, it became my preferred font manager. As luck would have it, Extensis just released Suitcase Fusion 4. When Apple released Lion, however, Font Explorer began exhibiting all sorts of issues for me. Overall it just wasn’t a smooth experience, so I switched to Font Explorer X and all was well… for a while. It could have been my system and not Fusion, but I never found out. ![]() Nothing major, but it took forever to load, and the Fusion Core System Preference began to forget to launch quite often. But when Fusion 3 was released, I began noticing problems. ![]() It’s always been reliable and worked as smoothly as can be expected. In doing so, Extensis has raised the bar for other font managers when it comes to integrating fonts in the print and web world.įor years (long before the OS X days) my font manager of choice has always been Extensis Suitcase. Cards with rank "zero" can break any opposing card or combo if played after the opposing card or combo, but can be broken by any card or combo if played after the zero card is played. Card Points, which are increased through level up, limit the number of cards the player can use in a deck. With the exception of zero-ranked cards, which are more expensive in terms of Card Points (CP) compared to other cards of the same type and have other ranks, more CP is required to place higher-ranked cards in the player's deck. Cards are ranked from zero to nine, and are used for making attack combos or breaking enemy cards. The player can jump and maneuver around the battle screen as they would on the field map, but all physical attacks, magic, items and summons are activated by playing cards. Combat Ĭombat uses a card-based battle system executed in real time. Reverse/Rebirth allows the player to play a second story mode featuring Riku and a link mode where players can battle each other via a Game Link Cable. Initially, only Sora's story mode is available once completed, "Reverse/Rebirth" mode becomes available. The first two are story modes that feature either Sora or Riku, and the third is a two player battle mode. The game features three modes of gameplay. Each card has a specific effect: red cards affect the number and type of enemies green cards affect the power of the player's deck and blue cards affect the properties of the room itself, such as allowing treasure chests or a save point to appear. The properties of each room―including quality of items and strength of enemies―are determined by the Map cards the player chooses. Ī unique aspect to this game is "room synthesis": to advance through the game, the player must utilize Map cards obtained after winning battles to synthesize rooms. Once combat has been engaged, the game switches to the battle screen, which utilizes a card-based battle system. ![]() Enemies inhabit the field map and track the player to engage in combat, which can be initiated through contact between the player and an enemy. Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories is a combination between a role-playing video game and collectible card game. Player information, including cards and HP, is located on the left side of the screen while enemy information is located on the right. The remake was later released in North America on December 2, 2008, and was remastered in HD and included in the Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix collection released in 2013 for the PS3 and later for PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The game was remade for the PlayStation 2 as Kingdom Hearts Re:Chain of Memories, released in Japan as a second disc packaged with Kingdom Hearts II Final Mix in March 2007. When it debuted in Japan, it sold over 100,000 units in 48 hours. It was praised for its story, graphics, and FMVs, but the card-based battle system was criticized. Though not as successful as the other Kingdom Hearts games, it received positive reviews and sold well. ![]() The game features a new card-based battle system, in a departure from its predecessor's real time combat system. The game introduces new characters and plotlines that further expand the Kingdom Hearts universe and set up the premise of Kingdom Hearts II. The game follows Sora and friends as they explore the mysterious Castle Oblivion while battling the sinister Organization XIII, a group of antagonists new to the series. It is a direct sequel to Kingdom Hearts, and its ending is set about a year before Kingdom Hearts II. Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories is the second game in the Kingdom Hearts series. It was one of the first GBA games to incorporate full motion video (FMV). The game serves as an intermediary between the two larger-scale PlayStation 2 games in the Kingdom Hearts series. The device itself is sturdy, made of metal compared to the plastic body of other capture cards in our roundup, and also features a line-in port for no-fuss voiceovers.Īside from the ability to record and livestream gameplay flawlessly, which it does, the highlight of StarTech’s capture device is UVC, a video standard that is compatible not only with Windows and Mac, but Linux too, offering plug-and-play support without needing to download third-party software (although there is software on offer for Windows users).Īs well as offering native support for a range of operating systems, the benefit of using UVC is that it’s compatible with a wide range of livestreaming software, from Streamlabs OBS to XSplit Broadcaster. The device offers capture via HDMI, and if you don’t have a USB-C port on your computer, the capture card also comes with a USB-A 3.0 cable for high-speed transfer. Why can’t you have both? Thankfully, StarTech’s UVC USB-C capture device offers impressive performance with both streaming and recording, though it comes at a premium. Given the nature of the setup, the performance really depends on your computer (which is technically true of all the cards, but much more so here), though it should generally be capable of recording at with pretty similar streaming performance.Īs with the other Elgato cards, it comes with the company’s own Game Capture software, but is also compatible with third-party alternatives.Įlgato’s options are great, but you have to decide pre-purchase whether to prioritise streaming or recording. ![]() That means that this is really only the ideal choice for anyone with a single souped-up desktop gaming rig that they want to use to simultaneously game on and capture the footage, without the massive performance hit that would usually entail.īear in mind though, there will still be some performance hit – this thing can’t entirely offload all of the processing labour of footage capture, but it will pick up a fair bit of the slack, leaving your CPU and GPU to focus on running the game as well as possible. Naturally that makes it a hell of a lot less portable, and also pretty limiting for capturing console footage unless you keep your desktop in the living room. Obviously that means it’s only useful if you have one specific desktop PC that you want to use for capturing footage, and if you’re comfortable opening it up for installation (or know someone who is). Despite the similar name, the HD60 Pro is a rather different proposition: this is an internal card, which connects to a PCIe slot inside your computer. For the rest, the HD60 S is also compatible with OBS and XSplit.Īnd now for something completely different. Still, it’s ideal for anyone new to this tech, which makes the HD60 S our recommendation for any streaming newbies, and will be more than enough for most users. It blows Razer Cortex out of the water though. The HD60 S comes with the Elgato Game Capture software, which is by a long way the most simple and user-friendly capture software around, though lacking some of the in-depth features of rivals. It can record footage, but you might have to drop the resolution and frame rate to keep things smooth, which might be too much of a cost for some. That comes at a cost though: the HD60 S is a bit ropey at recording footage, so we wouldn’t recommend it if that’s your priority. Ports are minimal, but cover what you need: HDMI in and out, USB to connect to a PC, and a 3.5mm audio jack so that you can mix in commentary.īuilt primarily for streaming, the HD60 S uses USB 3.0 for low-latency transfer at up to 1080p and 60fps – it’s seamless enough that you can just about play the game using the streaming computer as a display, without even using a separate TV or monitor, if you have a limited setup. It’s simple looking too: sleek black, with a single slim light bar to show when it’s active. Slim and compact, this is a very portable device, ideal for streaming on the go. ![]() For them, the Elgato HD60 S is a pretty ideal choice. Most people looking at capture cards are probably hoping to stream footage live to services like Twitch. |
